Kunal Kapur is one of the most celebrated faces of Indian cuisine today. He is Chef extraordinaire, TV show host, winner of several culinary awards and the author of recently launched cookbook- 'A Chef in Every Home'. He is living his dream of making Indian cuisine the number one cuisine in the world and empowering everyone through power of cooking to become self sufficient.
Chef Kunal (Executive Sous Chef, The Leela, Gurgaon) has been recognised amongst the Best Chefs in India by National Weekly Magazine - India Today. He has been honored with "Gourmet Guru" as one of the Top 20 chefs of India.
A degree holder from the Institute of Hotel Management Chandigarh, he started his career from the Taj group of hotels. Having spanned his culinary repertoire in Indian cuisine across banquet operations, theme dinners, outdoor catering, creative menus, buffet set-up, Chef Kunal's credentials are seen in numerous awards and medals he has achieved in a career spanning more than a decade.
All the restaurants he has managed so far have been successful to evoke the tastes and memories of divine food. He is also the proud chef of "DIYA" the specialty Indian restaurant at The Leela, Gurgaon which has won the Best Indian restaurantaward FOUR times in a row in Gurgaon and rated amongst the top 5 Indian restaurants in Delhi and Delhi NCR.
He is in the Elite Category of "Star Chefs" from around the world, representing Indian cuisine on board Lufthansa Airlines with his specialty menus for First and Business class.
Kunal received Dr. S Radhakrishnan National Media Network Award 2014 for his contribution in television (Masterchef). Also he is proud recipeint of The Indian Television Academy Award 2014 for the Best Jury/Anchor for Junior Masterchef India.
Kunal is the proud recipient of the prestigious "Sir Edmund Hillary Fellowship 2012" from the Government of New Zealand in the field of Food & Beverage. This fellowship/award is awarded every year to an individual for his contribution in his respective field. Previously "Sir Edmund Hillary" Award went to Member of Parliament Mr. Rahul Gandhi and to Dr. Vijay Mallaya.
Kunal relaunched Google Voice in India along with Bhaichung bhutia and Shibani Kashyap in early 2014. Kunal is a Culinary Advisor to NISSIN, the Japanese company who are pioneers in instant noodles, pasta and soups. He is closely working with Nissin to develop India specific flavours for the line of products.
He launched HUL's Magnum (most selling ice cream on stick in the world) in India with Kareena Kapoor. Worked with Fantafor a Snack campaign on his social media space.
He has been a judge cum host along with bollywood actor Akshay Kumar, on India's first reality based food show called Masterchef Indiaand has been an integral part of all three seasons till date.Currently he is a judge cum host for Junior Masterchef India.Infact, Mr. Vir Sanghvi, the Editorial Director of Hindustan Times quoted him as "The real star of Masterchef India."
Recently Kunal finished his debut food and travel show called "The Foodie, comes to America", which is currently on air in USA.
He was also worked with Chef Gordon Ramsey as a guest Judge on Semi finale of Masterchef America.
