Udaipur is a beautiful city of lakes, palaces, rustic traditions and handicraft. It is a popular destination for western tourists and is home to the famous Picchhola Lake. It was the previous capital of the princely state of Mewar and is regarded to be the Venice of India. Udaipur is home to three interconnected lakes in all. The Picchhola Lake, the Fateh Sagar Lake and the Swaroop Sagar Lake.

You can get to Udaipur by air, train and bus. You can make your journey directly to Udaipur from most major Indian city. Udaipur has been converted to a broad gauge station recently and has trains daily from New Delhi and Jaipur. Another alternative is to take a broad gauge train to Ajmer and make the rest of the journey to Udaipur by road. You can also opt for comfortable sleeper buses from major cities and coastal towns, but the journey will be exceptionally long.
